Not only is the GoPro Hero3 camera 30 per cent smaller and 25 per cent lighter than its predecessor it also has a resolution that is up to four times higher
GoPro has just launched the Hero3: Black Edition a sports camera that is arguably the first affordable 4K capable video camera available to consumers.
The Hero3 can record 4K at 3840x2160 or 4K Cinema at 4096x2160 resolution giving you pristine high=res images that would have most HD TVs struggling. If you want a slightly higher frame rate then 2.7K can be recorded at 30fps which will give you better than Full HD videos.
The camera can of course record video in not only 4K and 2.7K but also 1080p, 1440p, 960p, 720p and WVGA so you can tailor your video to whatever resolution you require.
Camera stills can be taken at 12-Megapixels, an improvement on the 11-Megapixel on its predecessor with a processor that is twice as fast allowing better video recording performance.
The Hero3: Black Edition also comes with a WiFi remote that can control up to 50 cameras at once with a 600ft range and is waterproof to 10 feet depth. The camera is about the size of two matchboxes and comes with a variety of mounts and is available now for $399.99 from GoPro.
