Small Monitors Could Increase Productivity Over Multi-Monitor Setups

The more the merrier, right? It’s certainly my belief when it comes to multi monitor productivity, something that’s becoming very affordable today, as I’ve said when testing the GeChic OnLap external USB monitor, and it makes sense when you summarize everything to more pixels means more stuff on the screen, so you can work faster by not having to switch between apps.

Well, it seems more monitors don’t always mean better productivity, as I’ve read in this article. It’s an interesting read that makes the point that more monitors or pixels encourage you to keep a visible Twitter client, IM client or Facebook page open, taking your focus from the task in hand.

The point is to use a small monitor (or a monitor will a smaller resolution) so that you’ll be forced to focus on the task at hand instead of checking your social media status, chatting with your friends or doing anything else than pure work. While you would be tempted to say that higher resolution monitors or multiple displays help you multi-task better, studies have shown our brain is not trained to do multiple things at the same time.

So having a smaller monitor on your desk will change the way you work, maximizing apps you need and minimizing the ones you don’t (or close them). Our brain is an incredible tool, but it’s also still untrained to protect itself from all the distractions the Internet can provide. I’ll be testing this myth in the next days and report back to you with my own conclusion on how a smaller monitor can increase productivity, not hurt it.

The Differences Between LCD And LED Monitors

Today, there are two popular types of monitors: LCD monitors and LED monitors. These two types of technology could be found in most of the monitors available on the market, such as Dell monitors. To generate more knowledge on both types, this article will differentiate the two according to its components and features.
The main difference between the two is in the monitors' backlights. Both monitors basically function on the same technology for display but have different functioning parts. LCD monitors function with fluorescent cathode cold lamps as their backlights while LED monitors emit diodes. Old monitors of the CRT type make their own light through the use of their own cathode rays. In LCD, the technology used is dependent on the lighting outside to produce an image and display colours. All these are possible because the light they have generated, which are liquid polarized crystals, are manipulated.
Because LEDs are patterned after the LCD technology, they have followed the same process but are enhanced. Hence, LEDs have higher backlight quality that is very prominent in the monitor's quality of display. Also, LED has a very sharp distinction of colour contrast. All these imply that monitors under the LED technology produce highly intense lighting plus very fine resolution of colours. In fact, the colours that LED monitors display are more realistic because the objects appear similar with the real one.
Another LED and LCD monitor difference is in the consumption of energy. According to reviews, LEDs definitely are the type that consumes less power. This uses 40 percent less power than LCD monitors.
Also, the viewing angle of both monitors is included in their major differences. LCDs require the viewer to face it directly. Samsung LED monitors: Upgrade your display

Computer monitors have for many years been seen as just another accessory to the CPU. However, Samsung, the world leader in consumer electronics, has pulled off a sensational innovation in the form of LED monitors that are compatible with the latest range of computers from practically all kinds of manufacturers.
