The Google Nexus 10 was supposed to be launched today alongside a new 3G Nexus 7 tablet and the new Nexus 4 smartphone but as Google have cancelled the event we'll have to hold on a little longer.

Lovefilm’s selection of movies and TV shows are now  available to stream on the Kindle Fire HD and Kindle Fire.

Both tablets  will come with a month’s free subscription for in the UK. Users will be able to login via Amazon account details.

Whispersync technology keeps track of the last viewed point in a video which can be resumed from another device, such as the PS3.

Meanwhile X-Ray For Movies will embed content from IMBD, which Amazon also owns, into the video, should you want extra info.

Jim Buckle, Managing Director at Lovefilm, said: “Every Kindle Fire HD and Kindle Fire in the UK comes with seamless integration of Lovefilm giving users access to thousands of movies and TV shows. This is a huge moment for Lovefilm and continues to expand our multi-platform offering – delivering the very best content onto the most popular devices, which can only be great news for film and TV fans.”

In a move that underscores the growing synergy between content services and hardware, Lovefilm has officially arrived on the Amazon Kindle Fire range. This integration brings a new dimension to the Kindle Fire experience, enhancing its value proposition as a versatile entertainment device. Here’s a closer look at what this means for users and why it’s a significant development.

What is Lovefilm?

Lovefilm, once known primarily as a DVD rental service, has evolved into a prominent streaming platform in the UK, offering a vast library of movies and TV shows. Acquired by Amazon in 2011, Lovefilm has since become an integral part of Amazon’s content ecosystem, complementing Amazon Prime Video and expanding the company’s reach in the competitive streaming market.

Integration with Kindle Fire

The arrival of Lovefilm on the Kindle Fire range means that users can now access a rich selection of on-demand video content directly from their tablets. This integration offers several key benefits:

  • Seamless Access: Kindle Fire users can easily browse and stream Lovefilm’s extensive library of movies and TV shows without needing additional devices or complicated setup processes.

  • Enhanced Entertainment Options: With Lovefilm added to the already robust suite of apps and services available on the Kindle Fire, users have more choices than ever for entertainment on the go.

  • Optimized Experience: The Lovefilm app on Kindle Fire is optimized for the device, ensuring smooth playback and an intuitive user interface designed to take full advantage of the tablet’s features.

Benefits for Kindle Fire Users

  2. Convenience and Portability: The Kindle Fire’s compact design and portability make it an ideal device for streaming. Users can enjoy their favorite shows and movies anywhere, whether they’re at home, commuting, or traveling.

  3. Unified Ecosystem: For Amazon Prime members, the integration of Lovefilm with Kindle Fire further unifies their digital ecosystem, allowing seamless switching between Lovefilm, Prime Video, Kindle books, and other Amazon services.

  4. User-Friendly Interface: The Lovefilm app is designed to be user-friendly, with easy navigation, personalized recommendations, and robust search functionality. This ensures that users can quickly find and enjoy the content they love.

Competitive Edge

The addition of Lovefilm to the Kindle Fire range strengthens Amazon’s position in the highly competitive tablet and streaming markets. By providing a comprehensive entertainment solution, Amazon enhances the Kindle Fire’s appeal compared to other tablets, such as the iPad or various Android-based devices, which may not offer the same level of integrated content services.

Looking Ahead

As streaming continues to dominate the entertainment landscape, the integration of services like Lovefilm on devices such as the Kindle Fire is likely to become increasingly important. For Amazon, this move not only enhances the user experience but also encourages further engagement with their ecosystem, driving both hardware sales and content consumption.

For users, the arrival of Lovefilm on Kindle Fire represents a significant value addition, making it easier to enjoy a wide array of entertainment options in a convenient, portable format. Whether you’re a long-time Lovefilm subscriber or a new user, this integration promises to deliver a richer, more enjoyable viewing experience.

Conclusion

The arrival of Lovefilm on the Amazon Kindle Fire range is a win-win for both the company and its customers. By seamlessly integrating a vast library of streaming content with a popular and versatile device, Amazon continues to innovate and enhance its offerings. For Kindle Fire users, this means even more reasons to love their device and more ways to enjoy their favorite entertainment, anytime and anywhere.

Stay tuned for more updates as Amazon continues to expand and refine its services, bringing even more exciting features and content to the Kindle Fire and beyond.

iPad Mini price splits T3 readers

With the iPad Mini now tackling the small tablet market we asked T3 readers which they would choose over a Nexus 7, Kindle Fire HD and the new iPad Mini

The Apple iPad Mini is a great product but its price point is just too high in the current market, or at least that's according to the majority of readers who responded to a question on our Facebook page.

We asked readers which tablet they would choose out of the 16GB iPad Mini, 16GB Google Nexus 7 and the 16GB Kindle Fire HD and the response was unanimous with the majority of readers choosing the Nexus 7 thanks to its open platform and attractive pricing.

James Ivan praised Android's open source positives suggesting it provided "More freedom for paying less. heck, I'd go with nexus."

On the other hand Simon Williams argues that Apple's closed ecosystem is worth the premium saying "Apple's app ecosystem is worth the £100, plus its connectivity to the iPhone and the Mac. There is no choice."

That said, readers have found the price of the iPad Mini to be a sticking point with its lower specs being a particular problem, as pointed out by LeInad Flosa who blunty sums it up saying "£269 for a tablet with a 4S specs...thats fooling the consumer."

Apple are not without their fans though as those who did choose the iPad Mini were aware of the price hike but still felt that it was value for money as in the case of John Murphy.

"iPad Mini, because it looks gorgeous, tonnes more apps, cheap, and because apple know how to support and make products last, think about it, a 3 year old product (3GS) still supports iOS6."

Apple iPad Mini specs:

The new iPad Mini comes in black and white and is just 7.2mm thick, around a quarter thinner than the 4th generation of iPads. The device weighs just 0.68 lbs. "It's as light as a pad of paper," said Schiller. "We were going to say book, but books are heavier!"

The iPad Mini has the same screen resolution as the iPad 2, but it's screen size is 1024 x 768 with a 7.9 inch multi-touch display. The iPad Mini delivers the same iPad experience users have come to expect in a design that has 35 percent more screen real estate than 7-inch tablets.

Google stocks slump despite record $14 billion quarter

Despite a big announcement around the corner and the critical acclaim its Nexus 7 tablet has received Google had a shock yesterday when its shares actually dropped

Google have posted a record breaking quarter with revenues of $14.10 billion but an embarrassing leak of the results early in the day whilst the stock market was still open resulted in a sharp decrease in value of shares because the results didn’t meet expectations.

Google blamed financial printer PR Donnelley for the mistake which capped an embarrassing day for it as YouTube went offline and the release of Google’s new Samsung Chromebook was leaked early.

The SEC document, which is provided to the stock market and investors was leaked so early that it lacked any comment from Google on the results and had a placeholder marked “PENDING LARRY QUOTE” referring to Larry Page, CEO of Google.

The document showed Google reporting $14.10 billion in revenue and EPS of $6.53, which missed most analyst predictions - they were expecting $14.7 billion in revenue. The stock quickly began to suffer; going down around 9% by the time trading was halted at 12:50 pm US Eastern time.

All in all revenues were reported as being up 45 percent compared with Q3 2011, but GAAP (generally accepted accounting principles) net income was down 20 percent year-over-year to $2.18 billion ($6.53 per share), as compared with $2.73 billion in Q3 2011 ($8.33 per share). The decline was due to rising costs.

In a statement following the leak Google's CEO Larry Page remained positive about Google's future saying,

"Now we took a big bet on Android back in 2005. We believed that aligning standards around an open source operating system would drive innovation across the industry. Most people thought we were nuts."

"Today there are over half a billion Android devices-half a billion - with 1.3 million more being activated every day. You should all run out and buy the Nexus 7 tablet for $199. It’s had rave reviews and recently won “Gadget of the Year” from T3, the gadget experts."

Motorola’s hardware business brought in $2.58 billion in revenue ($1.78 billion from mobile and $797 million from home). Its operating loss was $527 million. However, despite the loss from Motorola that extra revenue pushed Google over the $14 billion mark for the first time in 14 years.

Google are expected to announce new products on October 29th at their New York press event which will most likely involve a new flagship Nexus phone and high resolution retina-display style tablet

iPad mini: Launch live blog

We're just days away from Apple's latest launch event which will almost certainly see the company debut a smaller version of its all-conquering iPad tablet. Join us here for full coverage

Apple will hold a press conference next Tuesday October 23, during which the company is widely expected to announced the long-rumoured iPad mini device.

Invites to the 'Special Event' landed in the T3 inbox earlier this week with Apple promising, "We've got a little something to show you" and, while the invite stops short of confirming the device, the clue appears to be in the title.

As always, we'll be live-blogging events from at the California Theatre in San Jose as they happen, with kick-off expected at from 6pm UK time.

So with almost an entire year of speculation building towards this event, what can we expect from the iPad mini?

Most observers expect Apple to launch a sleek 7.8-inch device to complement the traditional 9.7-inch model, enabling Cupertino to meet the threat from affordable Android tablets like the Google Nexus 7 and the Amazon Kindle Fire.

A purported inventory listing which leaked this weekend suggest that the iPad Mini will also be priced competitively. The inventory screenshot showed the the basic 8GB Wi-Fi may only cost 249 Euros, which translates into £200 with today's exchange rate. However it seems likely that Apple would abandon its premium pricing policy to match the likes of Amazon and Google.

More reports have claimed that Apple will keep the costs down by keeping the device Wi-Fi only, while the new Lightning connector, which debuted on the iPhone 5, is likely to replace the 30-pin connector seen on previous iPad models.

The launch of an iPad mini, in itself, would have been considered a surprise just a year ago, given the late Steve Jobs' well-reported stance on tablet size. He once claimed that 7-inch slates were dead-on-arrival, but reportedly began to warm to the idea in 2011.

Anything else?

Beyond the iPad mini it has also been suggested that Apple will tweak the new iPad 3 model (which was announced in March this year) to incorporate the Lightning connector and 4G connectivity for the soon-to-launch Everything Everywhere 4G network.

More speculation has focused on revamped iMacs, a 13-inch Retina Display MacBook Pro and, to continue the diminutive theme of the event, a revamped Mac mini.

Stay tuned to T3.com for all the latest news and gossip leading up to the event and don't forget to join us for the live blog at 6pm on Tuesday.

First Microsoft Surface ad goes live

Microsoft Surface is Microsoft's first big step into the tablet market and now with a matter of a week or so until it goes on sale, the Windows 8 tablet has had its TV debut

The long awaited Microsoft Surface Windows 8 tablet has made its TV and online debut in a commercial that plays on the flexibility of the magnetic keyboard.

The commercial, entitled “Movement” features dancing people throwing the Surface around whilst opening and closing the tablet flip stand and using the magnetic touch-cover in a crescendo of tablet created break-beat style music.

Microsoft’s Surface is the only tablet to come with a built in kick-stand and the magnetic cover will be available as a touch-cover or type-cover. The touch-cover incorporates a touch sensitive keyboard, whilst the type-cover includes a super slim-line full keyboard.

Surface goes on sale in the US at midnight on 26th October and recent adverts in Paris suggest that it may well be available on the same date in Europe. Microsoft have not yet released any details about availability outside the US and the price remains a mystery with the release in just over a week.

Gizmodo today featured adverts from Microsoft allowing consumers to pre-order the tablet however when the link was clicked it was dead, no doubt due to the advert being released early.

Asus PadFone 2 release set for tomorrow

With the Asus PadFone 2 release date now confirmed all eyes will be on how Asus have been able to improve on the smartphone and tablet hybrid

The new PadFone 2 is set to be unveiled by Asus on Tuesday 16th October in Milan. The successor to the original PadFone it will apparently pack a Quad-core 1.5Ghz Snapdragon S4 Pro processor and 2GB of RAM to make it one of the most powerful smartphones to date.

There have been rumours of other phones matching the power of the new PadFone 2 but they have yet to be released in the UK, so smartphones such as the LG Optimus G and Nexus 4 will have to come out after Asus have bagged a bit of coup with their new device.

The PadFone 2 will also reportedly pack a 13-Megapixel camera and LTE connectivity and a new teardrop shape alongside the 4.7inch 720p HD display, a step up in both size and resolution on the original device.

There is no word on the how the tablet dock will shape up compared to the previous model however the new design allows the PadFone 2 to slide into the tablet dock front-facing in a much more natural looking and elegant design than the overcomplicated hinged compartment of the original.

Asus have just come off a hot run of success with the Transformer Prime Android tablets and the Google Nexus 7 and bagged four T3 2012 awards recently.

How To Update Your Tablet PC

Last Sunday I bought a Tablet Pc from an on-line shop in China. I was so excited when I first got it.
The color is pink designed for all girls. Android 2.3.4 operation system and the screen is 8-inch.
Firstly I must open it and update for the newest software . I searched the guide in search engine. Then I operate as it said and it is updated successfully. Now I write it down and hope it will be helpful for you.
1. Power off your tablet and disconnect the power cable. Disconnect the battery pack from the compartment on the bottom of the computer.
2. Open the display screen so that you can access the keyboard. Insert the tip of your screwdriver underneath the rectangular plastic frame above the keyboard. Gently pry up to pop it out of place and remove it.
3. Remove any screws above the keyboard and then lift the keyboard up and place it face down over the touch pad.
4. Locate the rectangular compartment on the top of the computer. This is the memory compartment. Remove any screws holding the compartment cover in place.
5. Lift the compartment cover up to expose the green memory module inside.
6. Pull the metal tabs at either end of the compartment outward and the module will pop up. Remove the module from the compartment.
7. Fit a new module in the compartment and press down until the tabs lock in place. Reverse the steps for reassembly of your computer.

All the direction will write as follows :
1-year manufacturer's warranty: this warranty is offered directly by the manufacturer. Should the item become defective within the manufacturer's warranty period (physical damages and damages caused by incorrect usage excluded), customers may send the unit back to PA's office. PA will help forwarding the item to the manufacturer for repair or replacement, and will look after the progress. However , It will not tell you how to update your PC. When I try the 7 steps and my PC runs successfully.
As the price of touch-enabled tablet PCs comes down, more people are finding a variety of uses for them around the home or at work. Because of their small form factor and touch interface, tablets are perfect for mounting in locations where one might need a computer within arm's reach, such as in the kitchen, for viewing recipes and schedules, or in the living room for entertainment purposes. Choosing a wall mount for these situations is an important task, because without the right type, the tablet PC can't live up to its full potential.
If you want to get one , I will give you some advice to choose the cheap tablet pc . There are some wholesale tablet pc shops on line sell some cheap one and with the high quality.

The 7-inch multi-touch screen will make image and text crystal clear, but the best is that it does not fatigue your eyes. Another nice touch is the HD moving image and the smooth stream, but let’ not forget about the dual core processor (1 GB of RAM) that powers this ebook reader, so you can download a book in about ten seconds. The internet connection is made via Wi-Fi. Doesn’t it sound surprising?

If entertainment is what you mainly focus on, then common knowledge is that books are the oldest entertainers, so more than 2.5 million books, magazines or comic books are waiting for you. The cost for most books is almost ten dollars or less.  If we ought to extend a little bit the concept of entertainment, fun and funny applications are included, such as Angry Birds & Scrabble, Taptu & MyCast Weather, Epicurious & Drawing Pad and Sudoku, Crosswords, and Chess & Pandora, that come pre-loaded.

The price of the Barnes & Noble Nook Tablet eReader is around $250- 299. The main question is: is this the best ereader? And independently of the first one, other question pops out: does it provide good money value? Well, in my opinion, the  Barnes & Noble Nook Tablet eReader is one of the best ereaders and comparing to what other ebook readers can do for a specific price, I’d say that this one is a good deal, but if the cost seems high at the moment, you can always wait a few more months and it will drop!
